What parents say about “Raising Healthy Daughters in Mind Body Spirit”

This was brilliant.  I would like to say a big thank you to the presenter – although my daughter is still young, the sound guidelines and tips and tricks provided should assist me is helping my daughter through the turbulent teen years in a more positive and healthy way. What more could I have hoped for from a course.  I would take this again and would recommend it to all people with daughters.

This workshop was very beneficial and especially gave some great, concrete and practical ideas for raising ‘healthy daughters’.  The highlight for me was definitely being given the very specific ideas to try at home/in conversation and the ‘areas’ to think about.  Leslie seems to have a lot of helpful information and knowledge, as well as sincere caring about the holistic health of our girls.  I really appreciate her giving her time to help educate us.  Great workshop!

I really enjoyed the class on raising daughters. I would go again and I would recommend it to a friend.  I only wish it was longer or even a series because there was so much information, that I would have liked to have had more time to discuss.  I was happy to get two hours, but it made me hunger for more!

Loved it.  Great summary of issues and then practical ways to deal with these issues.  Leslie is very engaging and spoke well.

Very interesting, insightful, well presented.  Good level of interaction.  Excellent speaker with so much empathy.

I enjoyed it and it was very interesting.  I have two daughters and will be definitely going home and sharing a lot of what I learned.

Very invigorating, it made me feel good and I left with a feeling that I can do this –Raise a healthy daughter.

Very well presented and structured.  I like the combination of theories and anecdotes/statistics, and some practical solutions.  I am glad I came.

Very good workshop with a lot of tips and concrete ideas of how to raise our daughters.

It is so good to hear that other Moms have the same issues.

Very inspiring!

A Bunch of Thanks to LausanneMom Supporters

If you think that I get a lot of money doing this blog, oh, I can assure you that I don’t. I’m still doing this blog as a hobby and have been paying everything from my own pocket (Thank goodness that I work and can use my own salary, so no conflict with hubby so far :D ). Paid advertisement started to flow in earlier this year, and I am very thankful that now at least I almost paid off what I have spent.

So yep, I want to use this post to thank those wonderful people who have been kindly supporting LausanneMom.com.

Confetti Box, run by Estelle, offers adorable and affordable party supply for kids’ birthday. The offers range from balloons to hats to pinata to blowout to candles. Very fast shipping (oh yeah, I tested it).

Carmen from BYouCoaching offers personal coaching and workshops for parents and children. I have heard wonderful testimonial from a participant of her workshop, so better be there on the next workshop!

And who doesn’t know Babyzou (yet)? My personal favorite for baby stores around — not a surprise as it’s conveniently located only 5 min on foot from my apartment ;) . But not only for me, I guess. As far as I know, Babyzou is the easiest baby store to reach by public transport from Lausanne, as it’s located directly opposite the metro station Croisettes. And they recently launched their Baby Registry, so if you’re expecting a baby, you may want to take a look at it (click here).

Liz from Forget-Me-Not Cards, whom I continuously thank for keeping snail mail alive… and lovely! Take a look at her card collection and I guarantee you’ll feel the urge to send those to your loved ones back home. Her current stock also includes Christmas stuffs, in case you like to prepare early (oh yeah, how we all know that preparing early is the only way to get things done when we have kids!)

Lisa from Know-It-All Passport, whose work I don’t think need more introduction. If you see the newest edition that was just out this week, you’ll understand my enthusiasm about this guidebook. Btw, don’t forget to leave a comment to enter the giveaway contest on this post (ends at 11:59pm tonight!).

Amie from CiaoBambino.com, who just recently moved to Vaud. Amie and her team have given traveling with kids a new flavor. Planning your winter vacation? Make sure you check the website here!

And of course, I also thank all of you readers for keeping this blog alive, useful, and fun. Your feedback is always appreciated so do leave comments, click on the links, recommend the blog and the facebook page to your friends.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Busy Sunny & Hot Weekend Ahead!

MeteoSwiss says it’s going to be sunny and hot this weekend (up to 29°C) and it better be as there will be many events to come this weekend. In Lausanne we’ll have the Triathlon, in Vevey the Street Artist Festival, and in Geneva there will be the BimBadaBoum.

All sounds like so much fun! For us, we’ll go to Vevey (and pick up the event poster that the organizer had promised to give me!) and to the beach. It’s probably the last week this year to swim on the lake! And you? Where will you be?

P.S. If you’re a public transport user, please note that there will be changes on some bus lines during the triathlon (Saturday and Sunday). Metro is not affected.

Poll: Do you work, moms?

I ran this poll last year but there was a problem with some widgets on the site, so here it is again. Please vote so that I can have a general idea about my readers, and thus can hopefully improve the post quality. And please vote only when you are a mother residing in Lausanne and around (Vaud). Many thanks.

Do you work, moms?

Stomp! Chomp! There are dinosaurs in the mail!

I love snail mail and even more when I can use special stamps on it. That’s why I got excited when I learned that the Swiss Post will launch a new set of stamps with dinosaurs! Yep, and in fact they’re Swiss dinosaurs! If you have budding paleontologist at home, you can use these special stamps to teach them the world of philately and the beauty of snail mail. The stamps come in CHF0.85, CHF1.00 and CHF1.40.

Numerous skeleton and footprint finds confirm what a lot of people do not know: many millions of years ago, there were dinosaurs in Switzerland too. Reptiles which are now extinct (saurians) lived not just on terra firma, but also in the water and in the air. Three new special stamps showcase a selection of Swiss saurians, bringing them back to life.

-from Swiss Post PhilaShop-

Besides the stamps, Swiss Post also offer set of puzzles (CHF18.50) with the same theme as the stamps. These stamps and puzzles are available for pre-order now online but will only be delivered to you on Aug 26, 2010. As for the stamps, they will only be valid starting from Sept 3, 2010.

And finally, all these also come in a special kiddie set -FREDs Pro’s set (CHF15).

Btw, I think the puzzles also make a great Swiss souvenir for the little ones in your family back in your home country. FYI, if you order online, the delivery is free. After all, they’re sold by the post!
