Cool Info for Parents in Lausanne, Switzerland

Raising Healthy Daughters: A Workshop for Moms

I received this information yesterday. It seems very interesting, especially for me since I have a little girl. It will be in Wollerau, which is unfortunately quite far from Lausanne (about 3h train ride), but I thought I should post this anyhow as someone may want to go.

Raising Healthy Daughters
A Workshop for Moms

The Whole Girl Approach:
Raising Healthy Daughters in Mind, Body and Spirit

Join Leslie Kuster, facilitator of Girl Power groups, to explore raising healthy, confident, and secure girls. In this workshop we will review the topics taught in Girl Power including: positive thinking, body image, friendships, inner wisdom, healthy eating, fitness, and money skills. You will learn specific activities and helpful tips to support your daughter in every one of these areas. You will leave with an understanding of the main issues facing girls today, a guide of what to do and say, recommended reading list, and pointers for dads and step-dads.

You will also have a chance to voice your concerns and hear other Moms’ concerns and ideas. Learn ways to support your daughter so she can grow up to be a confident and compassionate adult.

Your daughter will excel when she is raised with the awareness that feeding her whole self – mind, body, spirit and emotions – is the path to a contented life.

If you have a daughter or step-daughter ages 6-15 years old you don’t want to miss this!

Mommy Entrepreneur: Carmen of BYouCoaching

As always, I got excited whenever I learned about a successful expat Lausanne mom, especially when the business is very family-oriented.

Carmen and her gorgeous children

Carmen Sanchez-Cuenca comes from Spain and enjoys a multicultural family. She’s married to a Belgian and her three children were born in Mexico (where they lived for 8 years until they moved to Lausanne in 2003). Trained and worked as an international journalist, upon arriving in Switzerland, Carmen decided to change her profession and started studying child psychology. She later moved to Coaching, which she thought was more suited to her practical and optimistic personality. She founded BYouCoaching, offering many different kinds of workshops for parents or children in English, French or Spanish. For example, she coaches moms who would like to balance family and professional life, or want to go back to work after a break to take care of their children (or after moving abroad) and need support. The themes of the workshops range from Emotional intelligence, Solving conflicts in the family, Communication, Getting the children to cooperate and Coherent discipline to Coaching your own children.

Carmen is also trained for STEP workshops, a very well known parenting approach in the USA. While she also organizes conferences with big audiences for parents associations, she still prefers smaller groups of 6 to 10 people. The workshops can take place in her office or another place, for example during a private afternoon coffee.

For more information of her service, please contact Carmen at:

Angels’ Factory – Teenagers Party on Nov 27

teenangels

Having a daughter and having “been there, done that” made me very thankful when I received the info about Angels’ Factory. Founded by parents of teenagers, Angels’ Factory is an event, public relations and communication agency that arranges teenager parties designed to be a safe place for these young people to do their “clubbing”.

Their first event will be on Friday, Nov 27, from 6 to 10PM in the BUZZ Club, a discotheque that will be reserved only for 13-16 year-olds. Smoking and alcohol are not allowed, and it won’t be possible to re-enter after exiting the club during the evening.

Please check their website for rules, registration, conditions and other info.
