What parents say about “Raising Healthy Daughters in Mind Body Spirit”

This was brilliant.  I would like to say a big thank you to the presenter – although my daughter is still young, the sound guidelines and tips and tricks provided should assist me is helping my daughter through the turbulent teen years in a more positive and healthy way. What more could I have hoped for from a course.  I would take this again and would recommend it to all people with daughters.

This workshop was very beneficial and especially gave some great, concrete and practical ideas for raising ‘healthy daughters’.  The highlight for me was definitely being given the very specific ideas to try at home/in conversation and the ‘areas’ to think about.  Leslie seems to have a lot of helpful information and knowledge, as well as sincere caring about the holistic health of our girls.  I really appreciate her giving her time to help educate us.  Great workshop!

I really enjoyed the class on raising daughters. I would go again and I would recommend it to a friend.  I only wish it was longer or even a series because there was so much information, that I would have liked to have had more time to discuss.  I was happy to get two hours, but it made me hunger for more!

Loved it.  Great summary of issues and then practical ways to deal with these issues.  Leslie is very engaging and spoke well.

Very interesting, insightful, well presented.  Good level of interaction.  Excellent speaker with so much empathy.

I enjoyed it and it was very interesting.  I have two daughters and will be definitely going home and sharing a lot of what I learned.

Very invigorating, it made me feel good and I left with a feeling that I can do this –Raise a healthy daughter.

Very well presented and structured.  I like the combination of theories and anecdotes/statistics, and some practical solutions.  I am glad I came.

Very good workshop with a lot of tips and concrete ideas of how to raise our daughters.

It is so good to hear that other Moms have the same issues.

Very inspiring!

Busy Sunny & Hot Weekend Ahead!

MeteoSwiss says it’s going to be sunny and hot this weekend (up to 29°C) and it better be as there will be many events to come this weekend. In Lausanne we’ll have the Triathlon, in Vevey the Street Artist Festival, and in Geneva there will be the BimBadaBoum.

All sounds like so much fun! For us, we’ll go to Vevey (and pick up the event poster that the organizer had promised to give me!) and to the beach. It’s probably the last week this year to swim on the lake! And you? Where will you be?

P.S. If you’re a public transport user, please note that there will be changes on some bus lines during the triathlon (Saturday and Sunday). Metro is not affected.

Around Switzerland: Papiliorama in Kerzers

Last weekend we took the “2 pour 1: Promotion Suisse” offer from Migros and bought ourselves 2 train and entry tickets to Papiliorama. From Lausanne it cost CHF49 if both adults have the CFF half-card. The trip took 1h 22m one way. We had to change the train twice (in Neuchâtel and Kerzers), but it was smooth and easy.

The Papiliorama was great. We went there on a Sunday but it wasn’t too crowded, we could easily enjoyed the butterflies. Wee one (almost 2) was excited all the time. The potential “problem” would be the heat and humidity as it made us tired easily.

Here are some pics from inside the Papiliorama – the exotic butterfly area:

the caféteria (you can see we brought our “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” book and plush):

and the petting zoo where they have donkeys, goats, and rabbits:

Beside those above, there are other attractions to see, such as the nocturnal animals and the rain forest area. There is a Swiss Butterfly Garden, but we actually saw fewer butterflies within this facility than outside! There is also a playground. It seems that they’re expanding and I hope they will include a grass area for picnic on the ground, as again I missed it there.

For more info, check the website.

Btw, we found the Migros offers to be really good. You can still collect the stickers until Aug 23, and the completed form (10 stickers) can be used to buy the offers up to 2 Oct 2010. FYI you buy the tickets at the ticket booth at the train station and you have to directly decide which day you want to go there. Our next one should be the Basel Zoo. We are hoping for a weekend with good weather now.
