Christmas 2016 Giveaway: Gift Card from little pearls

It has been a while since I did a giveaway post. But since we are in the Christmas spirit, of course I squeezed in one.

Enter little pearls.

When Jaqueline first contacted me a few months ago about her new shop, where I found the most adorable hand-made baby shoes, I was almost convinced I wanted another baby. Just so that I could put them on my baby.

Just look at them…

While this cute little children’s boutique Nuage has opened since almost a year ago, I only had the chance to step inside last week.

I could see immediately what I had been missing.

Favorite Corners: My Shoes in Flon

I bet many of you agree that shoes belong into the items on your shopping list that just eat the budget. Shoes can be very expensive to buy in Switzerland and with kids having growth spurts all the time, I’m always after good deals. Second-hands is an option but it’s quite difficult to find gently worn shoes for young kids considering how active they always are!

Exactly the reason I am thankful to ever bump into My Shoes in downtown Flon. This shoe store is spacious, and have shoes for everyone – babies, young children, teenagers to adult. All in one level! No need to wait for and squeeze your stroller in an elevator to go to another section.

Another reason why I love this store is that they stock a lot of Elefanten shoes, my all-time favorite brand for my children’s shoes, especially for winter boots. This brand offers very good quality for reasonable price.

And in this store, they seem to always have some Elefanten shoes on sale. Like this one:

I’m sure there are even more great deals during sale period. They also have many other brands, such as Geox, Adidas, Nike, Ecco, Timberland etc – the newest models at regular price as well as last years models on sale.

As a perk, they recently started a fidelity card. For each pair of children shoes you buy, you’ll get a stamp. After 6 pairs, your 7th pair will receive a 50% discount. With 2 kids in tow, I’m sure we’ll reach 7th pair soon.

The children’s corner has a TV that seems to play DVDs non-stop. So yes, you can leave your kids in front of it and try some shoes for you too! As I said, it’s all on the same level so it’s easy to keep an eye on them.

Another bonus point: the sales person there was always friendly and helpful. This store is part of Ochsner group so that in case they don’t have the size you’re looking for, they can check the inventory of other Ochsner branch.

I hope this tip is helpful and wish you a happy shoe shopping!

*I don’t receive anything for this post. Simply a happy costumer.

Mother’s Day 2014 Giveaway: Gift Voucher from Little Mooshoo

Sponsored Post

little-mooshoo-logoLittle Mooshoo is most likely the cutest littlest shop I have ever blogged about here. They don’t offer many things (yet), but obviously it’s never the intention of the founder. Tamara, a mother-of-two behind Little Mooshoo, created all clothes in their collection as limited edition and unique. There are no more than 16 pieces per item. She sourced the fabrics from Holland, created the pattern, and the clothes were then sewn locally by Textura in Lausanne (a company that aids women to go back to work) and by another mother in neighboring France. As someone who loves fabrics and had sewn my own kids’ clothes, this shop really looks like my dream!

Little Mooshoo collection is highly inspired by 60s and 70s fashion. I don’t seem to be able to take my eyes away from those “alibaba pants” (photos above). They look so cool and ultra comfy. I think both my kids and I need one pair each 😉

They also offer cute girl swimsuits that are imported from China. Tamara told me that she was looking to source some cute swimwear fabric (which turned out to be very difficult to find) and came across these swimsuits.

For Mother’s Day, Little Mooshoo will kindly give one mother or mother-to-be a gift voucher worth EUR80. To enter the giveaway, take a look at the online shop and let us know in the comment which item you love the most. Comments are accepted until Saturday, 10 May 2014 11:59pm.

Good luck!

Winner announcement on 11.05.2014: had decided, that the lucky mom is…

Winner or not, I’d like to congratulate all moms who participated and are reading this! Happy Mother’s Day and thank you for all you’ve done for all our children. Together we’ll make a generation greater than ever before! xx

And finally thank you Little Mooshoo for the possibility to host this giveaway!

*Eleni’s comment is officially #8, although shifted down one position due to a comment from Tamara, Little Mooshoo’s owner

This & That Week#14 – April 2014

I’m still recovering from 3 weeks of illnesses in the house, so that I am still feeling weak and dizzy, but hopefully now that spring is in full force, I’ll be back in shape in no time.

In the meanwhile, here’s a list for you!

  • Pro Juventute starts free and anonymous counseling for parents of teenagers today. This is something I really cheer for! They have been helping teenagers by having a hotline number for them to call (147), but we know that many times parents also need counseling about their kids. The counselors can be reached by phone 058 261 61 61 or online. From June 2014, they will also add counseling centers throughout Switzerland. Like this? You can help them by donating!
  • The program for PalĂ©o Festival in Nyon (22-27 July 2014) is out this morning at 10. Ticket sales from 9 April at noon. They go quickly, so make sure you get your tickets early!
  • It’s Troc season! Your chance to sell outgrown kids stuffs, or to grab “new” outfits for your kids. Google “troc” and your area to find one nearest to you. Or see the list on Kidytroc, Vaudfamille, and (Read this blog post for great tips about troc)
  • Family walk (in French), Saturday 12 April 2014: “A la recherche du Petit Chaperon Rouge
  • MosaĂŻque de PĂąques 2014 will take place on place de la Navigation at Ouchy from 18-20 April 2014 10am-7pm. Entry is free. This year, 35’880 eggs (sold for CHF1 each) will be  used to create the fresco below, which design is created and made available by the “Brotherhood of Ouchy Pirates” (ConfrĂ©rie des pirates d’Ouchy) to mark their 80th anniversary. All benefits go to ARFEC (Association Romande des Familles d’Enfants atteints d’un Cancer)

And finally, have you seen the site Projet MĂ©tamorphose? There you can find the many new projects coming to Lausanne in the next decade, including new sport facilities (ice rink and olympic-size pool). It looks great!

Enjoy the spring blooms! xx

l’asticot – Swiss Ethical Kids Design

Sponsored post

Just before Christmas, I received an email from Inga, the co-owner of the new Swiss babies and kids clothing brand l’asticot. They sent me this suspender skirt (below) for my daughter so that I could also review their product. The skirt was my own choice, and boy, I had a hard time to decide on one as they had many awesome clothes.

l’asticot impressed me. I could see that the brand and all their products are made with lots and lots of thoughts (please read more about the brand, their choice of materials and the ethics behind it here). And the clothes! Oh! Their French-meet-Scandinavian-chic design had me at hello.

And then, they kept scoring points. First, the skirt arrived in a box with cute drawings that was made to be colored and re-used. Second, the quality of the product was just superb. Very well made and the fabric feels so good (yup, it’s organic.) It has stood many washes and the indigo color stayed. My daughter received so many compliments whenever she wore the skirt. Third, it feels good to know that the clothes are made ethically in Portugal, and not in a factory involving child labor somewhere in Bangladesh. And fourth, I LOVE that they don’t differentiate the clothes as for boys or girls. Their clothes are for KIDS!

There is a minor thing that I don’t really like though. I think the e-shop takes too many clicks (thus time) to browse through. I’m probably fussy, but when I online shop I like to see the whole collection and the prices directly on one page, without having to move the cursor to open a slide up bar, then still to scroll to the side, and click to see the price.

Still with so many awesomeness, I think it’s not difficult to understand that this big girl and her little girl are happy with this brand and the kind gift, yes? (Thank you, l’asticot!)

FYI, they currently have winter collection sale and offer a 50%-70% off! Plus free shipping for orders from CHF50. Shop now!

End of 2013 Holiday Giveaways: Gift Certificate from Jubilane

Yesterday I posted a list of online toy shops that I like. Jubilane was one of them. But Jubilane offers many more than just toys. There are things for baby, young children, parents and parents-to-be: from pregnancy items to nursery decor to diapers to freezable lunch bag. They also offer a gift wrapping service, so that if you had family back home who would like to send presents to your children, why not tell them that they can order on Jubilane and send it to you. I’m sure shipping would be cheaper and you avoid having to pay a hefty VAT + custom fee.

Jubilane also has a physical shop, located in St-Legier in case you prefer to see the items in person (see the address at the end of the post).

For this end of the year festivities, Jubile will giveaway one gift certificate worth CHF100 to one lucky reader. To enter the contest, check Jubilane website and pick your favorite toy or game*. Then leave a comment on this post and let us know which one. Comments are accepted until Sunday, 1 December 2013 at 11:59pm. Winner will be picked randomly by, announced here on this post and will also get a PM from me.

Good luck!

*Yup, I know it’s not an easy task to only select one. I like too many to list 😉 but if I must choose one now, I’d pick Green Toys’ Ferry Boat with Cars. The only problem then would be getting my tot out of the bath!
