My husband and son like running. They have been doing many races in the area in the last few years. My son has ran races since he was almost 4, first accompanied by his dad or me, but he could run by himself since he was 5. I love promoting running races as I believe running is the easiest and cheapest sport a healthy person can do.

Below I listed the races that have children categories, some start as young as toddler age (running with an adult in “Parents-Enfants” category) while others start a bit later around 6-7y. Many of the smaller races also accept registration on the spot so that you can join directly on the day.

There are many more races outside Lausanne than what I listed below. But those listed are the big ones closest to Lausanne, with efficient train connections (note that many big races now include public transport pass for free)

Finally, there are more and more races offering running or walking for pleasure. These are usually open for any age, without chronometer, perfect for those who don’t like to or can’t race.

In Lausanne and around

Outside Lausanne

For other races (including cycling, swimming and all kinds of *-thlons, ), check these sites:

Finally, I have also written a lengthy blog about our experience here, including some tips.

Do you know other race I should include? Leave a comment please!

Happy running!
